Belize City man needs your help to stay alive

A Belize City man is pleading for the public’s assistance in obtaining lifesaving treatment for a heart condition that is deteriorating his health. 44-year-old Jomo Avila, a father of three, suffered a heart attack while on the job last year in March, and since then his condition has only begun to worsen. The situation has led to Avila being unable to work. And today, after a lengthy battle with the Social Security Board, he was granted invalidity. Avila was awarded $104.04 per week or $420.16 per month. However, the funds will be nowhere close to being enough to save Avila’s life. Avila says he is in need of a pacemaker and is having a fundraiser this week to hopefully obtain the money he desperately needs.

If you are willing and able to assist Avila, he can be reached at 639-7885.
