Belize City man shot after leaving Leadership Intervention Unit training session

A Belize City man was shot this morning moments after leaving a training session by the Leadership Intervention Unit. Around 11:30, 41-year-old Jervis Diamond Valencia and a group of men were walking on Logwood Street after leaving the skills training center on Magazine Road. The men were approached shortly after by a lone gunman who appeared from a nearby alley. The gunman opened fire on the group, shooting Valencia in the leg. The Banak Street resident then ran onto Sarstoon Street while his attacker made good his escape. Valencia was transported to the KHMH where he was treated and released. Police have since detained one man in connection to the shooting incident.
