Belize City Mayor Bernard Wagner Attends International Conference on SIDS in Antigua

Belize City Mayor, Bernard Wagner was nominated by the World Organization of United Cities and Local Governments to attend its conference this week.  The 4th International Conference on Small Island Developing States opens later today in St. Johns, Antigua and Barbuda.  The overarching theme of the conference is, ‘Charting the Course toward Resilient Prosperity’.  The aim of the conference is to continue its work at assisting Small Island Developing States (SIDS) like Belize to progress in areas of sustainable development.  It also focuses on the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals, also known as SDGs.  Currently, there are 37 member nations and 20 associate members.  The member states are generally prone to natural disasters and were all identified as special cases in terms of the environment and development.
