Belize City Mechanic Busted with Over a Pound of Marijuana

A Belize City Mechanic is out on bail after police busted him with over a pound of marijuana. Yesterday, police raided the home of 38-year-old Elton Felix on Lottie Waight Street, Belize City, and asked if he had anything to declare. Felix complied with the police and provided them with 513 grams of cannabis that was stashed in his home. Today, Felix appeared unrepresented in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court where he was read two counts of possession of control drugs with intent to supply to another person or persons for drug trafficking. Despite owning up to the weed, Felix pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of $800 plus one surety of the same amount. If convicted, Felix is facing a mandatory fine of $10,000 and a custodial sentence of 3 years for both fines. He returns to court in October 2023.
