A police officer was criminally charged this week after driving contrary to traffic and crashing into a parked car while allegedly drunk. Last weekend, police constable Ryan Timmons and his girlfriend were at a bar in Belize City when they began to argue. The woman then left the establishment and went to her mother’s house where Timmons showed up and began to choke her. The woman then fought him off and rushed to a nearby precinct to make a report. However, Timmons followed her but when the police intervened, he punched a wall in the station and fled. Not long after, Timmons was caught on camera driving his car contrary to traffic and crashing into a parked car at the corner of Cemetery Road and Wood Street. The 24-year-old refused to provide police with a urine specimen and allegedly continued to act disorderly when other officers arrived. Commissioner of Police Chester Williams weighed in briefly on the officer’s reckless behavior and how he will be penalized.

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “That police was charged I think yesterday, I think it’s PC Timmons right? Timmons. Yes, he was charged, yes. As far as I’m concerned he commits a breach of discipline and he has subverted the law and he is not immune from criminal liability and so he has been dealt with.”
