Belize City Resident Charged with Handling Stolen Goods

Twenty-year-old Belize City resident Jahale Craig is out on bail tonight after being charged with a single count of handling stolen goods. Craig appeared unrepresented in court today accused of being in possession of a stolen cell phone. He initially pleaded guilty to the charge, explaining that he had bought the phone from someone for a hundred dollars and had been using it for a month. He said he had no idea that the phone was stolen. With that, the Magistrate rejected his guilty plea and entered an equivocal plea of not guilty on his behalf. He was granted bail in the sum of one thousand dollars which he met. Craig is due back in court on December 6.
