Belize City Resident Convicted of Aggravated Assault on Police Officer

Belize City resident, Earl Baptist, who is already on remand on a charge of murder, was found guilty of shooting after a police officer today. Baptist appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court charged with aggravated assault upon Police Constable Darrell Myers. In court, Baptist, who was unrepresented, chose to remain silent in his defense. Since this was his first conviction for aggravated assault, he was fined a thousand dollars plus five dollars cost of court, in default of payment Baptist will have to spend a year in prison. Despite being on remand, Baptist said that he would pay his fine. The incident occurred on March 14, 2022. Baptist is on remand for the January 2021 shooting of Leslie Gillett aka “Dimes”.
