A Belize City resident was gunned down last night within the comfort of his residence. Last night, just before eight o’clock, 24-year-old Dimitri Deandre Usher was targeted as he socialized at his residence at the corner of Cemetery Road and Wood Street. A lone gunman ambushed Usher from inside the Constitution Park, located beside his home, and opened fire on him. He was shot several times and taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. He sustained a gunshot wound to the face, another to the chest, and one to the left shoulder, and was pronounced dead at 8:23pm. Assistant Commissioner of Police Hilberto Romero says a swift police response has since led to the detention of Usher’s alleged killer.

ACP Hilberto Romero, Officer Commanding Eastern Division: “Upon their arrival they found a male person with gunshot injuries. He was identified as D’Mitri Usher, 23 years. He was immediately taken to the KHMH for treatment where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Information received is that D’Mitri was sitting on the steps at a house by his apartment when a male person came and fired several shots towards his direction. The male person then got onto a motorcycle and fled from the area. We have one suspect in custody and we are doing follow up regarding this murder.”
Usher’s relatives told Love News they believe the assailant lay-waited Usher but are at a loss for words as to why he was killed. According to the family, he was excited for the arrival of his first child and was not a troublesome person.
