Belize City residents weigh in on drug-laced candy crisis

And, to close our extensive coverage on the tainted sweets, our newsroom took to the streets of the city to get the views from the public.

One city resident told Love News that he hopes this unfortunate incident would see better oversight on vendors.

As a side note, we find it interesting to note that while a public health crisis was declared, the five top persons in the Ministry of Health were not readily available to speak on the matter.  We understand that Minister of Health, Kevin Bernard is in the Bahamas along with his CEO, Dr Julio Sabido.  The pair is attending the 29th Special Meeting of the Council for Human and Social Development (COHSOD). Also, out of the country is the Director of Public Health, Dr Melissa Musa as well as her deputy, Dr Fidel Cuellar.  Meanwhile, Dr Jorge Polanco was not in office.
