Belize City Shooting Incident: Three Men Escape Unharmed in Hattieville

Police are investigating the circumstances that led to three men escaping a shooting in Hattieville last night. Orin Joseph, Dominique Morris, and Dorian Juan reported to police that they were in front of a store when a man they knew approached and said he didn’t want to rob them, so they should buy him a cigarette and a beer. Assistant Commissioner of Police Hilberto Romero says the men then refused to comply with the man, which led to the suspect firing shots.

ACP Hilberto Romero, Officer Commanding Eastern Division: “Joseph reported that he refused to purchase the items for the person and they had a verbal dispute. Joseph reported that he then left the area in his vehicle at which point he heard gunshots and then realized that the back glass of his vehicle was shattered. No one was injured. We are looking for one person in regards to the shooting who will be charged when he is apprehended. He is known to them and we know who this person is as well.”

Romero added that the suspect is known to the police and is a resident of Hattieville.
