Belize City is currently under a thunderstorm watch as rains are expected to continue in the coming days.  This evening, the City Emergency Management Organization (CEMO) issued an advisory to residents in the low lying areas.  The advisory notes, quote, “The National Meteorological Service has advised that a maximum of 4 to 8 inches of rainfall is expected in some areas and up to 10 inches in other areas. Consequently, flooding is anticipated in low-lying and flood prone areas.  For your safety, we advise Belize City commuters to exercise extreme caution until the water has had time to recede.  For residents in flood-prone areas, remain vigilant and stay updated with alerts from NEMO, CEMO and the National Meteorological Service.”  End of quote.  The advisory also noted that rainfall predictions are susceptible to change.
