Belize City Youth Remanded to Prison for Firearm Offenses
A Belize City youth was remanded to prison this week after being charged with firearm offenses. Nineteen-year-old Mark Godoy appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court today before Senior Magistrate Baja Shoman, charged with one count of kept unlicensed firearm and one count of kept unlicensed ammunition. Godoy pleaded not guilty to the charges; however, bail could not be granted to him at the Magistrate level. Ge was remanded into custody at the Belize Central Prison until August 17. He was informed that he could apply for bail at the High Court of Belize in ninety days. Police say that he was found on Saturday, July 1, with a nine millimeter pistol and ten live rounds of nine millimeter ammunition.
