Belize City’s Crumbling Streets Spark Concerns Over Funding and Maintenance

Despite the Belize City Council’s push to maintain streets in Belize City, questions remain surrounding the state of the thoroughfares within the city. Dozens of streets in the old capital are in deplorable condition, riddled with potholes that are worsened by rain. According to the Mayor of Belize City, Bernard Wagner, it is not a matter of lack of initiative but rather a lack of proper funding to rehabilitate the streets all at once. Love News spoke with Wagner this week about efforts to tackle the issue.

The council held an investment forum on Tuesday with the intention of bringing investors on board to execute its vision.
