Belize Coast Guard Sailors Participate in Airborne Operations for Tradewinds

This year’s installment of the Tradewinds 2 Regional Security System Joint Exchange International Paratrooping Training Exercise concluded yesterday at the Cheddi (che-di) Jagan (jay-gan) International Airport in Guyana following a tactical display of airborne maneuvers (ma-new-verz) from more than one hundred paratroopers. The airborne exercise saw paratroopers from Guyana teamed with their counterparts from the U.S Army, Brazil, Belize and France to perform Static Line jumps aboard two UHS Black Hawk helicopters, in chalks of six fifteen hundred feet. Tradewinds 2021 is a U.S. Southern Command-sponsored Caribbean security-focused exercise in the ground, air, sea, and cyber domains, working with partner nations to conduct joint, combined and interagency training focused on increasing regional cooperation and stability. Of note, it is the first time that Belize participates in airborne operations for Tradewinds. Currently, there are six Belize Coast Guard officers conducting training in the exercise, which ends on June twenty-six.
