The Ministry of Education has declared today to be National Handwashing Day and have been joining various schools to teach children how to properly wash their hands. As such, the Belize Red Cross decided to follow suit. Several volunteers set up a tent in Battlefield Park where they taught passersby the proper technique for washing their hands. Jessie Young, the community development officer, explained this method.
The team was at the park from 9am to 1pm, and by midday they had washed well over a hundred hands.
