Belize District BNTU Engages in Community Service for Education Week

Today, teachers from both primary and secondary institutions were out and about giving back to communities in the Belize District. It’s education week, and to celebrate, the Belize District branch of the Belize National Teachers Union embarked on a day of community service. Dozens of educators volunteered in various capacities and conducted community clean-ups. In Belize City, our newsroom caught up with the branch’s executive team at the Sister Cecelia Home for the Elderly. Belize District President Coral Jones-Lord spoke on the efforts and why the union felt it was important to give back.

Jones added that the union has a teacher’s karaoke champion this weekend at the Bird’s Isle Restaurant in Belize City.
