While the Olympic contingent did not pick up any medals, Team Belize picked up thirteen medals during the Central American Athletics Championships held in Nicaragua. As we told you, a group of about fifteen athletes participated in the games, which ended on Sunday. Among the gold medalists were Glenford Williams and Kerwin Palacio. He said he was ecstatic about the result.

Williams won gold in the 100 meters and 110-meter hurdles while Palacio picked up his gold in high jump. Kevin Jones got a silver in high jump and three bronze medals in the triple jump, long jump and four by one hundred relay, which he shared with teammates Palacio, Christopher Broaster and Mario Vivas. Vivas also won silver in 400 meters, joining Keely Faux in the women’s 400 meters, and Kirk Elrington in triple jump. Adrian Wade picked up bronze in the men’s 200 meters and Jahson Logan for men’s shotput. Faux also placed fifth in the women’s 100 meters, Jada Logan was fourth in women’s long jump, while Gina Tejeda was fourth in women’s shotput, throwing a respectable 9.27 meters.
