Belize Establishes Diplomatic Relations with Guyana, Opens High Commission

Belize now has diplomatic relations in Guyana.  Yesterday, the Belize flag was hoisted at the chancellery of the High Commission of Belize in the Cooperative Republic of Guyana indicating the start of operations.  The ceremony was overseen by Her Excellency Gale Miller Garnett, High Commissioner of Belize to the Cooperative Republic of Guyana.  The High Commissioner was accompanied by three military officers of the Belize Defence Force who are studying in Guyana, namely, Captain Marion Hernandez, Second Lieutenant Ashley Lashawn Williams, and Lance Corporal Felecia Cal.  According to the government, this new move is a reflection of the plans to expand its diplomatic network by establishing diplomatic relations with countries and by opening diplomatic representations aimed at bringing development, prosperity, and assistance to its citizens abroad.
