Belize Expresses Support for Taiwan to be Fully Recognized by the International Community

Belize has expressed support for Taiwan to be fully recognized by the international community. The expression of support was registered on Wednesday as Prime Minister John Briceno spoke at an award ceremony at the Presidential office in Taiwan. According to the Taiwan news outlet, Focus Taiwan, Prime Minister Briceno said that just like Belize, Taiwan should be able to peacefully coexist with its neighbors and participate in international organizations. It was during this same ceremony that Prime Minister Briceno was given the Order of the Propitious Clouds with Special Grand Cordon by President Tsai Ing-Wen. The Order is given to civil servants for outstanding performance as well as non-civil servants and foreigners who has contributed to the development of Taiwan. A state banquet in honor of the Belizean delegation took place on Wednesday night, wrapping up the day’s event including a military salute welcome for the group. In the multiple meetings held this week between Belize and Taiwan officials, it was agreed that deeper support would be given in the area of trade, investment, healthcare and women empowerment.
