Belize Faces Heat and Drought Says Chief Meteorological Officer

Belize is in the rainy season, but aside from the recent remnants of Tropical Storm Bret that was felt over the country experts say we are out for more heat and drought.  Chief Meteorological Officer, Ronald Gordon spoke to Love News explaining the current high temperatures.

Ronald Gordon, Chief Meteorologist: “Currently we had some rains over the past few days, as you noticed from the remnants of tropical storm Bret. However, as we have said before, we are in an El Nino year so there is a high probability that we will see below normal rainfall. And it is very likely that we may continue to see drought conditions in parts of the country from this particular phenomena this year.”

Chief Gordon notes that the website of the National MET Service is updated daily, and members of the public can access the latest weather updates on that platform.
