World Book day will be celebrated on Saturday. In commemoration of this day, The Embassy of Mexico in Belize and the Belize National Library Service and Information System held a book reading event today. They presented the “21 for 21” collection, published by the Fondo de Cultura Económica , a publisher of the Mexican State. The President of the Belize Book Industry Association, Feline Cayetano, explained to Love News how this launch served as an opportunity for both countries to strengthen their diplomatic relationship through books.
Renowned Mexican writer and philosopher, Oscar De La Borbolla, presented the books that were donated to the Belize National Library Service. The 21 for 21collection was published to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the fall of the city of Tenochtitlan and the 200th anniversary of the Consummation of the Independence of Mexico. Borbolla further explained the significance of this donation.
Since 1996, every April 23rd, World Book Day is commemorated throughout the world and is promoted by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
