Belize Launches Investment and Business Climate Action Plan

Several stakeholders gathered to officially activate the Belize Investment and Business Climate Action Plan (BIBCAP) under the leadership of the Government of Belize. The purpose of the event was to bring together key partners who are instrumental in completing the activities under BIBCAP. Office of the Prime Minister, Chief Executive Officer, Narda Garcia spoke about the importance of BIBCAP.

Narda Garcia, Officer of the Prime Minister: “On the last issue of the doing business report in 2020 Belize ranked low at 135 of 190 economies highlighting the need to reform several areas including the starting a business indicator where Belize needed to move away from a lengthy paper based approach. Many issues remain and have in fact been compounded by ongoing hiccups in international trade, climate change and even a pandemic. This reality has nevertheless forced us to find new inclusive and innovative approaches to becoming more resilient and to ensure sustained economic stability. As we know Belize has rebounded and remodeled well but we must do everything possible to ensure that the upward trajectory over the medium and long term remains.”

There are 9 pillars under the action plan with 67 deliverables and 206 activities which will be discussed in March.
