Belize is hoping to leverage its Chairmanship of the Caribbean Forum of African, Caribbean, and Pacific States (CARIFORUM) to increase climate financing in the region. For the next six months, Belize’s Minister of State for Foreign Trade, Dr. Osmond Martinez will lead the regional group, which serves as a collective base for economic dialogue with the European Union. Last week, Dr. Martinez met with a CARIFORUM delegation to engage in high-level discussions focused on development cooperation initiatives. According to Dr. Martinez, during Belize’s tenure as Chair, he plans to align regional objectives to deliver meaningful benefits to member states.
The organization comprises fifteen Caribbean Community states, along with the Dominican Republic.
