Today, the National Institute for Culture and History (NICH) launched its Belize Living Heritage website. It was developed by the Institute for Social and Cultural Research (ISCR) and designed to spread awareness of Belize’s heritage. The ISCR is a department in NICH that conducts cultural research, engages in public outreach and advocacy, and implements living heritage safeguarding projects. According to Senior Research and Education Officer, Selene Solis, the website is part of the wider plan for implementing the UNESCO 2003 Convention for Safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage.
The public can also submit any information about their culture and its heritage to the website by filling out an application or visiting their offices in Belmopan.
