Belize Marks World AIDS Day with Decline in New HIV Cases

New infections of HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) have decreased over the past two years, according to the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW). On Friday, December 1, Belize will join the global community to commemorate World AIDS Day under the theme “Let Communities Lead.” The day is observed annually and seeks to raise awareness of the stigma people living with HIV/AIDS still face and educate the public on prevention. Doctor Russel Manzanero, an epidemiologist at MOHW, spoke about the recent statistics this morning.
