Belize Observes International Customs Day, Honoring Vital Contributions

This week, the Customs Department celebrated the men and women of the organization, whose tireless efforts ensure proper tax collection and seamless package clearances at every point of entry across the country. Today, the nation joined the global community in observing International Customs Day. The date was celebrated under the theme “Customs Delivering on its Commitment to Efficiency, Security, and Prosperity”. In her address, Comptroller of Customs Estella Leslie celebrated the department’s achievements over the past year, particularly its contribution to Belize’s post-COVID-19 economic recovery.
Former Comptroller of Customs Gregory Gibson also spoke at a conference about the difficulties faced by custom officers and the importance of the work they do.
International Customs Day was first celebrated on 26 January 1953.
