With the hurricane season upon us, the Belize Police Department says they are ready to activate their plans, if and when that time comes. Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams, says the cops have fine-tuned their emergency response plan to improve deployment time in the case of a hurricane. Yesterday, Williams explained how the police learned from last year and has improved their plan.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: ” We are prepared for the Hurricane Season. We have put together our hurricane plans and it certainly does include ensuring police presence in hurricane shelters should there be a hurricane and likewise making sure that we do have patrols before and after storms. We’re hoping that there is going to be no need for us to activate our plan but in the event that there is a need then I can say that we’re prepared as a department.”
