Belize Police Department Ramps Up Security for Holiday Season: Commissioner Williams Shares Plans
The Belize Police Department is gearing up to crack down on crime during the upcoming holiday season. Each year, the department allocates additional boots on the ground in highly populated areas to combat an uptick in burglaries and robberies. Commissioner of Police Chester Williams told Love News that this year, the police will be getting a head start on keeping citizens safe during the Christmas season.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “You know that around Christmas time we normally have our Christmas anticrime campaign that is going to start early next month where we’ll see more police officers on the street particularly in the commercial areas. We’ll be going on different talk shows and give the public tips in terms of what they can do to make themselves safe while they do the Christmas shopping so there’s a lot that we intend to do going forward to ensure we close they year with a bang.”
Williams added that citizens are asked to also be vigilant when shopping. ////
