Members of the public service are being asked to donate goods, time or service in commemoration of the upcoming National Service Day on September 19. A memo, dated September six announced the placement of donation boxes in various government departments where public officers can deliver their donations. It is crucial to note that the government is not asking for money, but rather an in-kind donation which could range from canned goods to clothing and/or service to the less fortunate. According to CEO Rolando Zetina, the donations will be distributed to fellow Belizeans, who are in need during these heartfelt times. National Service Day is set aside each September to honour former Prime Minister, the late Right Honourable George Cadle Price, who was a leading advocate for community service. Marking the occasion is a church service is planned on September 19 at the George Price Center in Belmopan to mark the occasion as well.
