
Belize Receives High Praise in US State Department’s 2022 International Religious Freedom Report

The United States State Department has concluded the Belize 2022 International Religious Freedom Report and the country is gleaming with positive reviews. The study commends the government’s decision to form the Ministry of Religious Affairs, whose objective is to improve the government’s communication with all the country’s religious groups and organizations. According to the study, Methodist Bishop Alvin Moses Benguche, church senator, stated that they favorably viewed the government’s interactions with their respective organizations and supported the creation of the new ministerial portfolio. The release also noted that the government worked closely with the churches to come to an agreement of holding a referendum on the legalization of cannabis.
