
Belize receives hurricane relief kits from Brazil

Belize has received hurricane relief kits from the Government of the Federative Republic of Brazil. The donation is estimated at thirty three thousand US dollars and includes food packs, hygiene kits and dehydrated nutritional soups. There was an official handing over yesterday where Brazil’s Ambassador to Belize, Her Excellency Agemar de Mendonça Sanctos delivered the items on behalf of their government. Receiving the items on Belize’s behalf was Elvia Vega Samos, Minister of State in the Ministry of Human Development, Families and Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs. During the handing-over ceremony, representatives of both governments spoke about the importance of helping each other during times of need. Belize expressed gratitude to the people and Government of Brazil for the donation that will assist in the continued support of families impacted by Hurricane Lisa. Also present at the handing over were Ambassador Amalia Mai, Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade who also serves as the Chair of the Foreign Assistance Committee of NEMO, and Marconi Leal, Jr., Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Human Development, Families and Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs
