Today, medical equipment valued at two million Belize dollars was handed to the Ministry of Health and Wellness. The donation came courtesy of the Government of the Republic of India through the India-UN Development Partnership Fund. The fund focuses on supporting infrastructural upgrades aimed at improving human development and health in Belize. Dr. Jorge Polanco, the Ministry of Health’s Director of Hospital Services, shared the importance of the donation at a time when Belize continues to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.
CEO of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Immigration, Amalia Mai, spoke about the importance of strengthening Belize’s health system and says the donation solidifies the relationship shared between India and Belize.
The equipment has been distributed among the country’s four regional hospitals.
