The Ministry of Health has confirmed a ninth case of COVID-19 in Belize. Not much was said about his particular case other than the Patient Number Nine is a minor who was mapped as having close contact with a previously identified patient. Director of Health Services, Dr. Marvin Manzanero, gave a brief update on today’s edition of Ask the Expert.
Dr.Marvin Manzanero, Director of Health Services: “That test was concluded through the night, it is a minor, that’s perhaps as much as I’m going to say for now and that minor is linked to one of the previous cases that we had identified in the Cayo district. The person is virtually with no symptoms and is self isolated at home with one of the contacts that we had documented earlier in the week. That resulted as part of a mapping exercise we had done so that would be case #9 that we have. Eventually we had said we were going to be getting more and more cases, we are not anticipating that every case now will be done via a press release. I think going forward we’re going to have to find a different mechanism for updating maybe our little infographic or put a little online counter in terms of active cases, recovered cases and documented cases.”
