At the top of our newscast, we told you about the third patient to die from COVID-19. We can now tell you that he has been identified as fifty-two-year-old Luis Romero Senior. A photo of Romero went viral a few years ago when he was seen during that year’s parade for the tenth of September wearing a shirt that condemned Guatemala for its claim on Belize. His daughter took to Facebook this evening to say, quote, “He had symptoms during this week which progressed within one day. My brother begged M.O.H. to test him from last week Thursday. They said he had no links to anybody positive and a bad flu is going around and if he went to a clinic, they will give him meds and that’s it.” End quote. She also stated that the family found out that her brother was in contact with someone who tested positive and while other members of their family were tested, Romero was not, despite having symptoms. Romero was taken to the ICU this morning and later intubated. He passed away around 2pm today.
