Belize Red Cross Partners with CARPHA for Mosquito-Based Disease Survey

The Belize Red Cross is teaming up with the Caribbean Public Health Agency to launch a survey on mosquito-based diseases. The BRC will be visiting over 400 households countrywide to conduct a knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) study. The survey officially launches on February 23 and should conclude on March 17.  Orlando Jimenez, Disaster Risk Reduction Focal Point, BRC explained that the survey is aimed at identifying gaps that may exist in the knowledge of target populations, to inform future inventions.

CARPHA is launching the initiative to address mosquito-borne diseases regionally. Meanwhile, the BRC will use the information to coin training workshops for community members and improve its response to such diseases in post-disaster response.

CARPHA is carrying out the study in Belize, Jamaica, Guyana, the British Virgin Islands, St. Vincent and Grenadines, and Suriname.
