The Ministry of Economic Development (MED) has officially signed contracts with key sub-recipients under the Global Fund Cycle 7 Grant. The sub-recipients include the Ministry of Health and Wellness, Belize Family Life Association, GoJoven Belize, and the National AIDS Commission. Together, these organizations will work to implement initiatives aimed at improving program delivery, strengthening health systems, and addressing gaps in HIV services across the country. The Global Fund Cycle 7 Grant, totaling six million thirty eight thousand three hundred and ten dollars (BZ$6,038,310) is a crucial investment in Belize’s public health infrastructure. The funding will support the country’s efforts to meet the ambitious 95-95-95 targets: ensuring that 95% of people living with HIV know their status, 95% of diagnosed individuals are receiving treatment, and 95% of those on treatment achieve viral suppression. As part of the grant agreement, an initial disbursement of one million nine hundred twenty-nine thousand three hundred twenty two dollars (BZ$1,929,322) has been allocated to the sub-recipients to kick start activities. These efforts will focus on enhancing program delivery, expanding access to HIV services, and addressing systemic challenges in the healthcare sector. By leveraging the Global Fund Cycle 7 Grant, Belize aims to create a healthier, more equitable society while recognizing that robust healthcare systems are integral to the nation’s development.
