Belize Tourism Board Sponsors Prize in BBC Wildlife Photography Awards

The Belize Tourism Board is sponsoring one of the prizes for the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) Wildlife Photography Awards. The BTB is using the partnership with BBC Wildlife Magazine to market the country to a wide audience in the United Kingdom. Gale Malic-Ozaeta Marketing and Communications Manager Belize Tourism Board told Love News what the BTB is offering the winner.

Gale Malic-Ozaeta Marketing and Communications Manager Belize Tourism Board: “This opportunity came to us through our partner agency in the UK Fin Partners and they told us a little bit about it and and for us it’s more than just sponsoring the prize package but the opportunities that us being a part of this entire initiative would gain for Belize. We are gifting the photographer chosen as the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year a trip for two to Belize. The value of this package is somewhere around 5,000 to 7,000 US dollars and it includes round trip international airfare for the winner plus one and a seven night stay in Belize. The seven nights stay will include their  accommodations, meals and activities that they will be doing.”

Malic-Ozaeta added that the BTB is looking to partner with a hotel that can offer a package specifically catering to nature lovers and bird watchers. She added that the BTB is also engaging in a digital partnership BBC Wildlife Magazine to further promote the country.

Gale Malic-Ozaeta Marketing and Communications Manager Belize Tourism Board:  “So in addition to sponsoring the prize for the winner, we’re also doing a cross platform campaign with BBC Wildlife which includes both print and digital. Through this, we will reach an extensive and loyal audience of the brand. So BBC Wildlife has 240,000 monthly readers who enjoy exploring and spending tour weeks on holidays each year and are 10 times more likely to spend over $3,000 US on an overseas holiday. So we will be reaching, in addition to those 240,000 readers, we will be reaching 100,000 readers who are birdwatching enthusiasts. So we are very much happy to be a part of this initiative and because we see the benefits that it will bring to Belize as a destination.”

The Wildlife Photography Awards is a competition that has five categories, Portraits, Behavior, Plants and fungi, Camera phone, and environment. The winner will be announced on November 6.
