Belize Triumphs Over Nicaragua in U-21 Women’s Volleyball Championship Opener

In an exhilarating start to the U-21 Women’s Central American Volleyball Championship, Team Belize emerged victorious against Nicaragua with a commanding 3-0 win. The sets ended with scores of 25-14, 25-22, 25-20, showcasing Belize’s dominance on the court. Leading the charge for Belize was Nissan Martinez, who delivered an impressive performance with 22 points, including 18 attacks, 2 blocks and 2 serves. Gareth Bruce also made a significant contribution with 17 points, composed of 15 attacks, 1 block, and 1 serve. Nicaragua’s efforts were spearheaded by Maria Jose Rivera who scored 10 points through 8 attacks and 2 blocks, while Samantha Vargas added 8 points with 5 attacks, 1 block and 2 serves. National Referee, Leon Gentle, spoke with Love News about the tournament.
Belize outperformed Nicaragua with a total of 41-27 in attacks and 8-5 in serves, and they committed fewer unforced errors, tallying 19 compared to Nicaragua’s 24. Gentle elaborated on how the efficiency of the team will contribute to a winning result in this tournament.
