Belize Volleyball Association Hosts Landshark 2023 Beach Volleyball Championships

On Sunday, the Belize Volleyball Association held the finals for the Landshark 2023 Beach Volleyball Championships at the Marion Jones Sporting Complex. The event saw the best male and female teams from across the country competing in the two-day event. Juan Marin Beach Commissioner of the Belize Volleyball Association said that there were minimal beach volleyball games played this year due to Belize hosting various regional events. He said that the association decided to hold the championships anyway, to ensure that athletes got recognition for their hard work.

Marin added that beach Volleyball has always been played in Belize, but the Association is working on growing and expanding the sport with the aim of going international.

In the male category, Edgar Martinez and Gabriel Nuñez took first place, Joseph Carnegie and Ernest Arzu placed second, with Eric Longsworth and Ernie Longsworth claiming third place.  In the female category, Nelissa Ramirez and Nissan Martinez were first, second place went to Emma Hoare and Aaliyah Pilgrim, and third place went to Isabelle Swasey and Ahniyah Cocom.
