Belizean Athlete Competes at World Athletic Championships
A Belizean athlete represented the country at the World Athletic Championships in Budapest, Hungary over the weekend. On Saturday, Brandon Jones competed in the hundred-meter heat where he finished second in the preliminaries with a total time of ten point nine four seconds. He qualified for the main draw; however, he placed seventh with a time of ten point nine five seconds and was unable to qualify for the semifinals. Later this week, Minister of Sports Rodwell Ferguson will be hosting a celebratory dinner for all Belizean athletes who represented the country on the world stage. The event will be held in collaboration with the National Sports Council at the Old Belize Jungle Pavilion.
