Belizean Boxer Amir Rudon Triumphs Over Mexican Opponent

Belize’s national lightweight boxing champion Amir “Kingmir” Rudon scored a spectacular victory against Mexican fighter, Ruben Reyes at the “Clash at the Beach” event over the weekend. The fight was hosted by The Colonel Productions and held at the Rafael Angel Nunez Auditorium in San Pedro Town on Saturday night. Rudon and Reyes fought in the pre-main event of the night and were scheduled to go for six rounds. However, Rudon had other plans and ended the fight with a first-round TKO. Javier Romero, President of the Belize Boxing Development Council (BBDC), said that Rudon is a rising star who he feels will put Belize on the map for boxing.

We also spoke with Rudon, who spoke on his game plan for the fight and what he plans to do next.

The BBDC also noted that the main event was historic, as it was the first time Belize hosted a World Boxing Council (WBC) championship fight. The bout was between female Mexican boxers Esneidy Rodriguez and Marisol Molina for the WBC Continental Latin Atom-weight championship. Rodriguez won by decision after enduring the full ten rounds with Molina.
