Belizean Culture Shines in Ian Gibson’s Latest Book, Land of the Night Sun

Ian Gibson, a gifted author and illustrator, is fulfilling a lifelong dream with the release of his latest work, Land of the Night Sun, a part of the enchanting Jade Necklace series. This spellbinding story weaves together vivid imagery, cultural heritage, and ancient mythology, drawing inspiration from the rich tapestry of Mayan culture in Belize. Land of the Night Sun follows the journey of a young girl who discovers a mysterious jade necklace passed down from her grandmother. Little does she know, the heirloom is a gateway to the underworld, allowing her to connect with her ancestors and uncover ancient truths. Love News spoke with Gibson about how he was inspired to craft a narrative that is as thrilling as it is profound.

Gibson immerses readers in a richly imagined world. His depictions of Mayan landscapes, mythological creatures, and celestial motifs bring the narrative to life, making Land of the Night Sun an unforgettable journey for readers of all ages. In attendance were students from St. Mary’s Primary School. For Kayley Castillo, the book has inspired her to continue writing.

Published by Cubola, Land of the Night Sun is available now in bookstores and libraries countrywide.
