Belizean National Arrested in Major U.S. Immigration Operation

Belizean national, Jose Alberto Pena, who has been convicted in the United States, breaking and entering, larceny, and tampering with a vehicle and previously arrested for robbery with a firearm/dangerous weapon is in the process of being deported. Pena was reportedly linked to several vehicle and home break-ins. He also has a previous arrest for robbery with a firearm, according to information released by U.S. officials.  Pena is among hundreds of undocumented immigrants detained in a major U.S. federal immigration sweep known as “Operation Charlotte’s Web,” which concluded this week in North Carolina. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not issued a statement regarding the detained Belizean but is expected to monitor the case as deportation proceedings advance.
