The Rotary Club of Belize through the Gift of Life Program has been trying to raise funds for five Belizeans to travel to the Grand Cayman Islands next month for heart surgery. One of the five persons is twenty-three-year-old Jasmine Lauriano, who has been a gift of life patient since she was only 22 months old. In her case, progress was made as Kenny Vanjani through the Love Foundation has gifted the family with five thousand dollars toward the expenses for her heart surgery. Love News spoke to Jasmine’s father Eric Lauriano about the donation and the long wait they have had to endure.
Eric Lauriano, Father, Jasmine Lauriano: “First of all I want to say thank God for letting the people donate this kind of money it’s really a blessing to us. We were trying to raise funds through fundraisers but you know at this time due to COVID and all the things that COVID had brought to us so we were far short of that so it’s a real blessing to us. Jasmin is a quiet young lady, very loving and kind young lady. Twenty years ago Jasmine was just one year and ten months. She had an open heart surgery in Tampa Florida. She had a bad valve that was leaking real bad and two years ago she had a stroke and the cardiologist found out the same valve they repaired twenty years ago is leaking again so she urgently needs another surgery to repair that valve or replace that valve. It has been tough but God has helped us through all the struggles and we look up to him for guidance and help. I just want to say thanks to the Love Foundation, thanks to Ms.Yvette Burke that helped us throughout this journey. Thanks to Mr. Ken who donated the funding and God’s richest blessings on you guys.”
Jasmine was to undergo surgery in March 2020, but was hindered by travel restrictions but says she never lost hope.
