Belizean Women Lecturers Engage with Counterparts in Georgia, USA

The College of Coastal Georgia (CCGA) is located in the United States and is currently hosting three Belizean college lecturers who have a focus on hospitality management and tourism.  Josephine Juan of Sacred Heart Junior College, Lyann Flowers from Independence Junior College and Tiresie Lino of Ecumenical Junior College are the three teachers who are currently taking part in discussions with chefs and several of their counterparts at the US College.  Their visit to the CCGA comes through a culinary arts faculty exchange which gives them hands-on experience as well as full-service observations in the preparation of campus dining events which takes them from the classroom to field work.  According to the CCGA President, Greg Aloia, this visit will allow the lecturers to return home and provide students with an international educational experience.  Meanwhile, the Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs, Tracy Pellett noted that this faculty exchange program is a microcosm of our expansion efforts to create a seamless pipeline where our students, faculty and staff can take advantage of the benefits and opportunities afforded through study abroad and other global educational exchanges.  Flowers, Juan and Lino will be spending time on Brunswick’s campus and will also be touring the local attractions including Sea Island and Jekyll Island.  This exchange program was established about two years ago.
