Today marks two years since Police Commissioner Chester Williams was sworn as the head of the Belize Police Department. We will share that interview with you in a subsequent newscast, but we can tell you tonight that the Police Commissioner is very proud that his first year in office is the first time that Belize’s crime rate has gone below the international standard of a civil war. According to international standards crime rate superseding twenty five per capita is equivalent to a civil war. Belize has been above the twenty five for several years. The last time Belize was below the mark was in 2013.
