Belize’s Manatee Man Jamal Galvez Named Fellow in New England Aquarium’s Marine Conservation Action Fund (MCAF) Fellows Program

Renowned marine researcher Jamal Galvez has been named one of the new Fellows to the New England Aquarium’s Marine Conservation Action Fund (MCAF) Fellows Program. The program acknowledges applicants who are leaders in their respective fields and adds them to an international community of conservationists fighting to save endangered species. Galves, the program coordinator for the Clearwater Marine Aquarium Research Institute in Belize, is known as Belize’s Manatee Man for his globally recognized efforts to save the Antillean manatee. His being named a fellow of the program is the culmination of over a year’s worth of work, which began with an application. He told Love News that becoming a fellow opens up opportunities not just for himself, but for Belize.

Since its founding in 1999, MCAF has supported more than 280 projects in 60 countries on six continents.
