Belize’s New High Commissioner to Guyana Presents Credentials, Praises Strong Relations

Belizean diplomat, Gale Miller-Garnett presented her credentials today to Guyana’s President, Dr Irfaan Ali.  President Ali accepted the letters of credence from Garnett, officially making her the High Commissioner of Belize to Guyana.  The presentation happened today at the Office of the President where he impressed on the good working relations that Belize and Guyana currently enjoy.  He further remarked on the, ‘forthright and strong principled stance’ that Belize took on the Venezuela-Guyana border controversy.  According to a release from the Guyana Government, discussions this morning also surrounded collaboration in agriculture, tourism, climate, and energy and food security. Former Justice of the High Court, Lisa Shoman, commented on the appointment of Miller Garnett, saying, quote, “There is no one better, more suited or more ready for this high honor.” End of quote. Meanwhile, CEO Valentino Shal noted, quote, “(I am) extremely proud of and happy for our new High Commissioner to Guyana. A better ambassador they could not find. Gale Miller-Garnett was an ambassador before she became one. She represents our country with class and excellence.”  End of quote.
