Belmopan Celebrates the Holidays with Tree Lighting and Toy Drive

The Belmopan City Council is bringing the holiday spirit to life with a series of festive events aimed at uniting the community in celebration and giving. The festivities kick off this Saturday with the much-anticipated Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony and Night Market, promising an evening filled with lights, and local vendors offering unique gifts and treats. As part of the council’s commitment to spreading joy, a Toy and Food Drive is also underway. Donation boxes have been placed at various stores across Belmopan, inviting residents to contribute items that will go toward making the holidays brighter for those in need. The council encourages everyone to join in the spirit of giving by donating toys, canned goods, or other non-perishable items. Love News spoke with Public Relations Officer, John Wade about what people can expect.

To ring in the New Year, the council is planning a Night Market and Concert, culminating in a grand countdown to welcome 2025. The event will feature live entertainment and local vendors. Wade explains that the events are geared towards families with the hope to expel the notion of Belmopan being “boring”.

The Belmopan City Council’s lineup of events offers something for everyone, ensuring that the city’s holiday celebrations are both memorable and meaningful.
