The Belmopan City Council is having a public meeting tonight to allow members of that municipality to voice their concerns.  These concerns are expected to range from issues of citizen security, the environment and commerce.  Cayo Correspondent Fem Cruz spoke with the Mayor Khalid Belisle on this public meeting.

The Belmopan City Council will be having a very important town hall meeting tonight at the Civic Center in Belmopan starting at 6pm. According to Mayor Khalid Belisle the purpose of this general meeting is to allow the residents to ask any questions.

Khalid Belisle, Mayor of Belmopan City: “We just wanted to make an appeal to residents of the city of Belmopan to come out this evening to the town hall meeting we have scheduled for the benefit of the residents of the city, it’s an opportunity for them to have any questions that they might have of the council answered as well as an opportunity for them to express any concerns, criticisms, suggestions that they might have to the council such that we might be able to better serve them going forward. It is a general meeting, typically we would have one or two specific areas to address but we decided to just open this one up to the general public such that we can address any and all matters at the meeting this evening. We are asking everybody to be on time because we will be starting on time and just looking forward to participation from the general populace of the city.”
